Dentures - a Cost effective teeth replacement

Tooth loss is very common and can be an unpleasant experience for many. The resulting gaps can leave people feeling self-conscious about their appearance and can also impair the day-to-day functionality of the mouth.

At Anna House we can quickly bring back your confidence with one of our highly effective tooth replacement options, which include dentures, dental bridges and dental implants. Dentures are generally the most cost-effective of these, especially in cases where a larger amount of teeth are missing.

Thanks to technological advances, modern dentures are much more natural looking and comfortable to wear than before.

Dentures FAQs

Dentures are false teeth made of acrylic or a combination of acrylic and metal. They are removable and are used to replace missing teeth. Dentures can replace either a few missing teeth or all of the teeth in the upper or lower jaw.

Partial dentures are used to replace one or more missing teeth in the same arch, while full dentures are used to replace all the teeth in an arch. Partial dentures are typically made with a metal base and acrylic teeth and gums, while full dentures are made of plastic and acrylic. Partial dentures are also typically held in place with metal clasps that attach to existing teeth, while full dentures are held in place by suction or a special adhesive.

The average time it takes to make a full denture is about four to six weeks. This includes impressions, try-in, wax bite, and final fitting.

Dentures provided on the NHS use a standard construction and tooth type where private dentists tend to use better materials. Private dentists tend to take more time making the initial dental impressions and adjustments as well.

Dentures do not last for a lifetime. They are the preferred option for many patients and can be replaced but a set of dentures will normally last around seven to ten years.

It is important to rest the dentures for six to eight hours per day to let the tissue under them rest. Many patients remove dentures at night so they can wear their dentures throughout the day. You should not wear your dentures all the time.

When it comes to sleeping in your dentures it’s recommended that you should take them out at night and give your gums a rest. Even when you wonder can you sleep with partial dentures in your mouth, it’s still best to take them out. Any type of denture can cause issues and it’s better to err on the side of caution.

Anna House in Tottenham are denture specialists and will be more than happy to help you on your way to a better smile.
